Black Trumpet Mushrooms

Typically available December through March. Averaging between 50-60 pieces per pound. Prepare or freeze within 48 hours of receipt to prevent the proliferation of nature’s natural wild mushroom lovers from surfacing. Not an attractive mushroom, it often arrives in long, stringy, clusters; that are well suited for use in soups, stews, and long-simmering preparation. They are both flavorful and distinctive, making them a most worthwhile wild mushroom for culinary enjoyment. As with all wild mushrooms, cook thoroughly before consuming. Mushrooms neither produce, nor are affected by ethylene gas. Store away from odoriferous foods.
